What is the eating plan like?

Each day starts out with lemon water and green, white or herbal tea followed by a green juice and heartier breakfast item or a green smoothie. Lunches and dinners are easy-to-prepare soups, stews, salads, sandwiches or hearty entrees that you’ll make double of so you can enjoy leftovers the next day. There are easy snacks sprinkled throughout, and even a delicious evening treat!

I’m not a great cook! Will I be able to do this?

Because the Crazy Sexy You program is low in overall sugar and rich in whole foods, it can certainly work as a candida prevention plan but not as what’s considered a true Anti-Candida diet.

What if I follow a Paleo diet?

Since Crazy Sexy You includes healthy whole grains, beans, lentils and fruit, someone following a strict Paleo diet may find that the plan does not work for them. Since most people on a Paleo diet are looking to lose and maintain weight loss, I would still encourage you to give it a try. Unfortunately, plant-based plans are often devalued or made to seem unhealthy in the Paleo community—nothing can be further from the truth.

What if I follow a keto diet?

A keto diet has gained quite a bit of popularity lately as an effective diet for rapid weight loss. But it’s important to understand that while it may be OK for the short-term, its long-term safety hasn’t been confirmed, and health researchers are concerned about the high saturated fat content as well as the limited number of nutritious veggies and whole grains for heart health over the long-term. The high protein nature of a keto diet may also increase risk for kidney stones, osteoporosis and gout. People on keto diets have also reported brain fog, irritability, constipation, hunger and fatigue.

The ketogenic diet was originally discovered as a way to treat epilepsy in children in the 1920s. It is devoid of carbs and high in fat (basically meat, nuts, seeds and veggies). It is not recommended for weight loss or long-term health, and is especially risky for people with diabetes or a family history of heart disease. The vegan CSY diet is the opposite… lots of healthy carbs from whole grains, legumes and fruit, and it is recommended for both weight loss and long-term health. Also, a vegan diet is far more sustainable than a ketogenic diet as we’ve seen in CSY in people who decided to abandon their keto diet for our plant-based plan. Contrary to popular assumption, people actually have an easier time sticking with beans and whole grains than with a meat-heavy diet devoid of carbs.

What if I am unwilling to eat beans?

Because most people are not used to eating beans every day, we've been careful to spread them out throughout the program. We help you ease into adding them to your diet slowly and recommend digestive enzymes and probiotics right from the start to help aid digestion. If you don't enjoy or can't tolerate beans at all, however, you can substitute with tofu, tempeh, hemp seeds, or other seeds or nuts in those few recipes that include them. Can I do this program if I’m pregnant or breastfeeding?

Since this program is so rich in nutrients and includes full meals, it is a perfectly nutritious plan for pregnant and breastfeeding moms. If the Crazy Sexy You program is wildly different in calories than what you’re currently eating, you’ll just need to keep an eye on any weight changes. Breastfeeding moms are usually trying to lose baby weight, but should only lose at a rate of 1 to 2 pounds per week. Any more than that can cause a drop in milk supply. Pregnant women will want to ensure their weight gain continues as recommended by their obstetrician, and can increase calories and protein by increasing portion sizes of foods and adding protein powder to smoothies. Prenatal vitamins and DHA supplementation should continue as recommended. 

I have a tight grocery budget. Will I be able to do this?

Grocery costs will vary depending on your location.
